Snowbirds Travel South For The Winter

Canadians and cold state inhabitants spend most of their winters in the warmer climates. The locals that spend all year in the these warmer states refer to these winter travelers as snowbirds.

Most snowbirds are retired or business owners. They are able to remain away from their permanent homes for long weeks at a time. Usually they own a second home in the warmer states.

Some take their homes with them. They own campers, RVs or boats. The boats travel down the east or west coast by water to anchor in a warmer climate. If they are working, they also use their vacation time in a state that has low taxes.

Others own their own motor home and travel around the many states. In the summer time, they can be found in Northern states enjoying the cooler weather from the Southern heat. In the winter, they travel to the warmer states, avoiding the freezing weather.

These people prefer to avoid the cold, icy winds that blow all winter across the country and Canada. This way they don't have to shovel snow or slide on ice. Instead, they can enjoy the green grass in their winter home on a Southern sunny day.

They can choose from beaches in coastal states to the deserts of the Midwest. They can live in the woods or in a city. Some spend their time walking or hiking on trails.

Health is one of the most important reasons retired people travel south in the winter. There are always great doctors and health care facilities close by no matter where these snowbirds choose to spend their time.
