In the fall of the year the highways heading south and west make one wonder if the cold country is being evacuated. Snowbirds are heading out to enjoy winter in milder weather areas. In many areas of the south the population actually triples during the winter.
Some seniors live in RVs, mobile homes, apartments, or condos for the winter season. Renting gives them an opportunity to decide if the area they have chosen is right for them. Many will purchase a home when they find the area that suits them best. Once a home is purchased they can expect friends and family to visit. They too can escape some of winter’s harsh weather.
Some seniors who enjoy travel do so during the fall and early winter to avoid the crowds. Off season discounts are very attractive after Labor Day when families return to school and work. Many like autumn travel when the scenery is at its most colorful. Golf vacations are attractive because the temps are milder in autumn. Cruise rates are down to attract traffic. Fishing is good as the waters begin to cool.
Many seniors, especially collectors and crafters, travel a circuit heading to milder climates during the winter months in their RVs. They sell their goods at flea markets, swap meets, and bazaars. They have fun and often travel on their profits from these ventures. They are like a community of gypsies who get together every year and have a great time.
Many seniors see their golden years as a time to kick back and enjoy retirement. An RV trip is the perfect manifestation of this.
