Senior Travel Discount

If you ask for a senior discount when dealing with airlines, hotels, car rentals, railroad travel and even bus lines and you will probably get it, providing you are fifty-five or older. If they don’t give you a discount, then go somewhere else. Senior citizens account for almost eighty percent of leisure travelers, so the travel industry is always finding ways to attract them.

The fifty-five and older group are ether retired or are thinking of retirement, so they feel they can afford to travel. Their children are on their own, grown and probably with families of their own, so they don’t have that expense or responsibility. Seniors today also live longer and are healthier than previous generations. They want to experience almost everything they passed up during their working lives.

To find a great discount you have to look on and off the Internet. If you are planning a road trip, an AARP or AAA card will help on hotel and car rentals. These cards are for all their members’ not just seniors. If you want a packaged tour in the U.S. or abroad there are many travel agencies that give discounts to seniors. They include Expedia, Grand Circle, and the AARP Travel Center just to name a few. Grand Circle has great riverboat cruises in Europe. AARP Travel Center has some hot deals for cruising the Caribbean, or package tours in the UA and abroad. AAA is a good place to go for a car tour or any tour you want all over the world.
