Holiday Traveling

The holidays are arriving, and with them, the eager anticipation of roasted turkeys, full bellies, and good times with family and friends. For many of us, the holidays mean traveling. That means getting time off of work, packing up the kids, hauling all the necessities, and hitting the open road. Whether you are leaving by vehicle or airplane, it doesn’t have to be stressful. In the grand scheme of things, holiday traveling can be a joy.

If you can put aside the inconvenience of holiday highway jams, traffic and the rush to get moving, traveling can mean a wonderful time ahead. Usually, travel means warm and wonderful traditions waiting for all. Since Thanksgiving and Christmas only come once a year, it often means seeing loved ones for the first time in months. We often make the same plans year after year and they are joyfully anticipated by all. But let's face it, the way we get there can be difficult.

If you are flying for the holidays, flights are often delayed because of weather, and terminals filled with cranky and tired travelers. It is important to turn these experiences into memorable events, so as not to put a damper on the warm memories to come. Making traveling an adventure can put a whole new spin on the concept, while creating lasting stories that can be retold and laughed at year after year. Mental notes of the strangers traveling with you can evoke hilarity later, making the whole holiday travel experience even more enjoyable.

Holidays are for fellowship and enjoyment. Traveling is just one part of these wonderful, traditional, days that can make our lives just a bit richer.
