Walt Disney World: A Great Senior Vacation

Walt Disney World is not the first place that comes to mind when you are looking for a great senior vacation destination. However, it should be. WDW is the number one resort vacation destination in the world, and for good reason. With four theme parks, two water parks, two miniature golf courses, six premium golf courses, 23 themed resort hotels, Richard Petty’s Driving Experience, and Disney’s Wide World of Sports venue, Disney World has something for everyone.

Seniors are lucky in that they can plan their vacation for when schools are in session. This means that the crowds are lighter and the prices are cheaper. In addition, Disney plans many events that appeal to older guests when schools are in session. One event is Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival in the spring. Another is Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival in the fall. Both these events are geared toward older guests, although they all have elements that will interest guests of all ages.

Disney is obviously the perfect place for seniors to take their grandchildren for a once in a lifetime vacation and memories that they will remember forever. Each theme park has not only thrill rides such as roller coasters, but also educational and entertaining rides and shows such as the Hall of Presidents and Festival of the Lion King. Disney makes it very easy for people with limited mobility to get around also. The on-site Disney transportation eliminates the need for a car to drive around the resort. Wheelchairs are available at each park and all the resorts, and the majority of Disney transportation is wheelchair accessible. Disney is a vacation that appeals to not only the very young, but also the young at heart.
