Discounts For Traveling Seniors

The organization known as the American Association of Retired Persons, AARP, is well-known for getting discounts for seniors on both travel and insurance. You don't have to be retired to be a member; you just need to be 50-years-old or older. They offer great trips, agendas, maps, fare discounts, discounts on rental cars and transportation to and from the port of departure.

Some travel agencies hire senior citizens to be tour guides. They get their trip free and are in charge of seeing that the group stays together, gets ready to leave in the mornings at the appointed time and knows some facts about their destinations. It is required that you would need to do some studying before the trip so you can also be ready with interesting facts about that they are going to see. Be aware of how much walking, hiking and climbing stairs will be part of the trip before you take on the responsibility. If you have bad knees or a hip needing replaced or some other reason that these activities would be very difficult for you, then don't take the assignment. Don't think you can tough it out, because after the tour starts, you must finish it.

If you like taking cruises, you can get a job teaching crafts, line dancing, ballroom dance, bridge or being grandma and grandpa to the little passengers. You get your fare free, a regular room and regular hours to be on duty. Of course your meals are included as well as the housekeeping. You will be expected to tip the people who have made your cruise so pleasant.
