According to the AARP magazine, many retired couples say that they are happier in their relationships now then when they were both working. Many feel that this is because there is less stress, which in turn causes less arguments. The percentage has not been documented but there seem to be many retired couples selling there houses to travel the world together. Some are going by boat and others are moving into their recreational vehicles (RV).
Sailing on a boat is, for many, a relaxing and great bonding time together. For some couples it seems as if they are starting their lives together all over again. Some of the retired couples do not like to sail on the open ocean, so they will stay closer to the coast line. They are called snowbirds because they will sail toward Florida for the winter months. Long-time friends are made and many couples will meet up again each year. They also keep in touch via radio instead of a phone. The best part for a retired couple is the cost of living. Because of the constant traveling, they save money by not needing to always buy new clothes or furniture.
The RV has similar benefits of that as boating. The difference is that the RV is more like an apartment on wheels instead. Many couples enjoy the fact that they do not have to be on a schedule anymore and they can stay in one place for a day or a week if they choose. A hot meal and a warm bed are still there to greet them whenever they are ready for it.
