Senior-Friendly Summer Vacations

If you want a vacation that is very relaxing, quiet, and out of the way, look into Bella Beach, Oregon. You can rent a house right on the coast just a little bit south of Lincoln. You can play golf or sit on the veranda and see an occasional whale jump, or just enjoy watching the never ending surf roll in. If you are a senior you probably remember the golden age of passenger trains.

As a child it was so fascinating to watch the train go by so fast you could hardly see the people inside the cars, but you always knew when it was the dining car. How about a trip on Amtrak? You can take the Empire Builder and see the Pacific Northwest, from Chicago to Seattle, or you can use the Route Atlas and plan your own trip. It will take some preparation, but you can travel anywhere that Amtrak goes. You can go as many places for as long as you care to travel. You can see the sights without having to do a lot of walking.

It can be quite a vacation, depending on how much research you put into it before you go. If you don't need to stay close to home, you might take a trip to Christschurch, New Zealand. There is beautiful scenery, wonderful accommodations, a guide available to make sure you see the sights, and very gracious people who will help you have a wonderful time. After you have arrived, you will forget about the travel time.
