Senior Trips to Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada but is just a bus ride from Arizona or California. Vegas has been touted mostly for the youth but there is plenty to do for the senior citizens. There are bus tours to the Grand Canyon and to Hoover Dam. The buses are very modern and comfortable and they have the facilities that are needed by seniors. Some of the seniors remember the stories of the trials and tribulations of building Hoover Dam. It is a magnificent miracle of its time.

The purpose of the dam is to back up the river and allow water to be delivered to the desert areas. There is a magnificent film of the building of the dam which is well worth the time it takes to view it. Hoover Dam is well worth the trip. Of course, the Grand Canyon is one of nature's miracles. Carved out of solid rock by the Colorado river, it is still very slowly changing. You can make it a one day trip or you can arrange to stay at the hotel near the canyon in order to see more of this phenomenon.

There are tours around Vegas at night to see the lights and sights. There are many events of free entertainment. Just a few of them are CBS-TV City at MGM Grand, Circus Acts at Circus Circus Hotel, Exotic Bird Show at the Hawaii Marketplace. There are the Fountain Shows at Caesars Palace and Bellagio Hotel, Open Air Concerts at Harrah's and many, many more. Don't forget about all the gambling at the casinos.
