The Best Senior Travel

The best senior travel is by ship. Board your ship, go to your stateroom, unpack your bags, put your things in the drawers and closets, and settle down for a nice cruise. The best cruises are two weeks long. One week cruises are taken by younger people who can not afford to be away any longer than a week. Once your bags are unpacked and placed in the companionway outside your door, head to the cafeteria for a bit of lunch. You can have anything you want that is there and as much as you wish. Eating is something you soon learn is paramount on board ship. Tea is served at four p.m. and consists of sandwiches and cakes or cookies. Dinner comes about 6:30 pm. Then there is the late night buffet with all kinds of goodies. In case you get hungry in between, you can always order sandwiches and chocolate cake, among other things on the room service menu.

Where you go on your cruise is strictly up to you. A great cruise is to the North Cape of Norway inside the Arctic Circle to the land of the Lapplanders and the reindeer. Here the sun never sets in summer, but merely sinks to near the horizon and then begins to rise again. You might prefer an inside stateroom without any port holes so it will be dark at night for sleeping. Norway is a beautiful country and the ship stops at lovely cities on the way up and back to the home port in England or Denmark. When you by your cruise tickets, you buy your air tickets together with it. That way you can be sure you will not miss your flight if the ship comes into port late.
