Great Places For Seniors To Vacation

In the winter, the best place for seniors to vacation is the Hawaiian Islands. Most people like to visit more than one of the islands, usually Oahu and Maui. Oahu is where Honolulu is located and so is Waikiki, Honolulu is not a place for tourists and Waikiki is where you want to be. There are many hotels here and you can also rent a condo at a reasonable cost. The weather in winter is beautiful—warm and sunny, but not hot. Kalakaua Avenue is the main street in Wakiki. Here you will find hotels, restaurants and exquisite shopping. Waikiki is a peaceful place to stay and everything is conveniently arranged within walking distance. The beach is magnificent—probably the best in the world. There are plenty of activities here, but if you want variety, fly over to Maui, which does not have the big city attractions of Waikiki and Honolulu and is peaceful and calm. It was the favorite island of Charles Lindbergh.

In summer, seniors should head for Switzerland. The climate is exhilarating and a tonic for your health. The Bernese Oberland is glorious with its mountains. The Jungfrau rises up to 13,642 feet. You can stay in a village called Lauterbrunnen at its base. Lauterbrunnen is a charming village only a few miles from Interlaken, a lovely tourist center for the Alps. Here you can rent an apartment or a room for reasonable rates. Buy a Swiss Rail Pass and then from Lauterbrunnen you can visit for miles around and even make a trip down and back to Zermatt in a day. Switzerland is a wonderful land for a vacation and you should plan to stay several weeks.
