Where the Seniors Vacation

It’s a big world, so how do you pick a destination? There are some places that a very senior friendly, such as, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Vermont, or upper State New York. Florida is a very friendly senior destination, especially Winter Haven, Amelia Island, and Fort Myers.

The subtropical climate with mild winters and warm summers makes Florida a great place to vacation. June through September are the rainiest months; however, people welcome the rain showers as a way to cool off. The tourist must be wary that at times the rains can get intense with strong winds. Hurricane season is from June 1st until November 30th.

Florida is also known for its golf courses. There are 1100 public golf courses. Other tourist attractions include the Everglades, Florida Keys, and Gulf Islands. You may decide to purchase a vacation package to see Florida. You get a lot of value for your buck with vacation packages.

There are cruise ships and hotels which have accommodations for people with disabilities. If you are looking for a cruise, pick a smaller ship. Then you won’t be overwhelmed by the large crowds. Remember that you have to ask for the senior citizen discount. Check with the AARP for travel discount updates.

Let your doctor know about your travel destination. He/she will make sure that you and your family are up to date on regular vaccines. Secondly, your doctor may recommend that you be vaccinated against bacteria that is prevalent in that particular region.
