Winter Birds

Winter birds, more usually referred to as snowbirds, refer to the northeastern residents who move south in the winter to escape the winter snow and winds. Many are business owners and can afford to live in Arizona or California and even places like South Carolina, Georgia or Florida and the Gulf Coast. Many of these people are senior citizens or younger people with health problems. Many years ago, before we had asthma medicines, the doctors just told their patients to go to Arizona for their health. The warm, dry climate seemed to help their condition.

Many snowbirds own motor homes or camper trailers to live in when they get to the warmer climate of their choice. Some of them may ship or send their vehicles ahead to be there upon their arrival. There are companies who take care of the situation for you. Some will drive your vehicle while you fly to your destination and others will load your motor home on a flat bed truck and ship it.

South Florida is a favorite area for snowbirds to go for the winter and the Gulf Coast in general always has the most gorgeous weather. Surely Arizona is another favorite place for snowbirds, especially the Lake Havasu City area, where the London Bridge was rebuilt. This is quite a favorite retiree area as well. If you are wanting to go south for the winter, research the best places that accommodate the ever-growing population of snowbirds.
