Seniors Traveling

Seniors can travel and have wonderful vacations if they are careful about where they go and what they want to do. First and foremost, they must be sure that they protect their health. They should go to their doctor for a check up. Tell the doctor where they are planning to go and how long they plan to be away. They need to have enough medication with them to get them through the entire trip with at least one extra week.

Cruises to the Caribbean and to Europe are offering 50 percent discounts to anyone 50 years or older. The big cruise ships are great, but they should look into what is called small ship vacations. They usually have only 2000 passengers so things are not as crowded and you spend less time in line. New restrictions require passports anytime you leave this country.

Look into owner-direct vacation rental homes. You can find some gorgeous homes that people do not want to leave closed up while they are gone for an extended vacation. Also, some people go to Europe for a year and want their home secure. Also, some people, like college professors, for instance, go on sabbatical leave for a year. They will hire someone to house sit while they are gone. It is a great way for senior citizens to go to an area they are interested in and live in a regular home. Everything is furnished except their food and essential toiletries, and they will receive a little cash to spend. This is a good way to spend a year.
