Senior CruisesSenior cruises are more educational, accessible, and a better value than they ever have been before. With the number of exotic locations and amenities offered by most modern cruise liners, seniors should seriously consider a cruise if they desire to take a vacation. With the large amount of discounted senior cruises, taking a senior cruise is a relatively inexpensive traveling method, especially if you live near the port of departure. Otherwise, flying or driving to the port will be necessary, adding another expense. However, many cruises offer seven day cruises for under $500, so, even if some cash is spent while docked during the cruise, a cruise vacation can cost $1,000 or less if on a budget. Considering the exotic nature of the potential locales visited, including Alaska and the Caribbean, a cruise can be considerably cheaper than flying to a destination and staying in a hotel. Many cruises cater specifically to seniors. The majority of cruises feature a capable medical staff, offer accommodations when requested for the disabled, and generally market cruises designed specifically for senior citizens. Some senior cruises even offer automatic lifts into and out of swimming pools and hot tubs. Guides do advise that seniors with disabilities stick to cruises whose destination is an American city or territory, since docking at these cities is easier and usually accommodations are available for disabled seniors to go ashore. Besides the chance to visit exotic locales affordable and safely, senior cruises feature various enrichment courses designed to teach seniors and other travelers subjects as diverse as ballroom dancing or web page design. The majority of cruises have free courses, including Crystal Cruises, but Princess Cruises, on the other hand, charges fees for some of its courses. Cruises offer so many
forms of entertainment, from gambling, shows and performances, and
wonderful food, that they are an experience everyone, including
seniors, should have. They are also one of the greatest vacations for senior couples, but also cater to senior singles travel. |
